Q

How important is bathroom lighting to the overall design of the space?

Bathroom lighting is one of the most important elements of the overall design; it can very turn the whole look of a space around.

Q

Should lighting be planned in from the early stages, or can it be left until later?

Lighting should be considered from the beginning and throughout the design process, thinking about how it effects and manipulates every decision.

Q

How is LED lighting being used to create the right mixture of ambient/task lighting?

When designing a bathroom and considering the lighting, both task and ambient lighting are considered throughout. A hint of colour can also be used in certain environments to create a rich look and feel, however you have to be very careful when doing so, as to not to cheapen the room.

Q

What are your top tips for bathrooms that lack natural light?

To go dark with the tiling and wall coverings and create a very moody space that is not trying to be light and bright, as it never will be. So make the most of what you have and create a stunning space that encapsulates its surroundings and environment.

Q

Are there any lighting tricks that can be used to make small spaces feel bigger or to ensure a particular area of the room will be a focal point?

Using multiple switches or a lutron system to create moods always helps to pinpoint a focal feature in a room. Recessing an LED strip light in the ceiling along the longest point can also elongate the look of a room.
